Dumas Kit #233 P-39 Airacobra Build

Postby Arlo DiPasquale » Tue Apr 28, 2020 10:06 am

I hope everyone has been surviving quarantine and had some quality building time. It's been awhile since my last build, so I figured I would do something simple and quick. I've always loved the P-39 because of the interesting mid-engine layout to allow the 37 mm cannon to fire through the prop hub. When Dumas released their 17.5" P-39 a few years ago, I had to pick one up. The frames went together smoothly and quickly, I began them Sunday and finished yesterday. Today I'll start covering, hopefully I'm not too rusty! I'll have more updates soon. I hope nobody minds that I'm posting a Dumas kit here :D

Here's an update, finished covering the frames, now to spray them with water to tighten up the paper and begin assembly! I'll be back with more soon!

Finished painting and fashioning detail parts, masked the canopy, and assembled most of the plane. I should be able to finish it up tomorrow!

Here's the finished product. My covering job on the wing wasn't quite up to par, but considering I was a bit rusty, I'm not too upset with the result.
