Aeronca 300series

Postby davidchoate » Wed Apr 16, 2014 7:18 pm

I recently acquired an Aeronca off EBAY for $8.00. The date on plans is 1961. the wood is a bit dry, and I may have to redo the parts. Which is a real shame because whoever bought it cut out and notched most of them with Laser precision. I really want that electric RC Aeronca Guillows made, but I cant find one. OH, there is a dark grey rubber motor in the box. Is it useable?

I'm pretty sure all Champ 301 plans are dated 1961, but the box changed a few times over the years, which might give you a rough idea of manufacturing date. The boxes with "Modele Reduit" are newer than the ones without, for example. (Canada passed a law in the 1960s requiring product identity declarations to be in French and English.) Later, Guillow added the recommended age range to the front of the box.

David,

I would use the wood parts you have from the kit. The plans are dated from when they were drawn, not printed.
