Papering question: Esaki paper

Postby Deadstick Dave » Sat Feb 12, 2011 3:00 pm

Esaki paper is offered in both colored and checker-color that would look great on Series 200 series planes like the Thomas Morse.

If one where to do so, how would it best be done? Apply the basic paper color and add an overlay of the checkered pattern?

Is their a problem, other than weight, with adding a second layer of paper?

The easiest would be not to pick the checkered scheme for the Mores Scout. But if you like then it wouldn't be too hard. The nicest would be to paint the checkered pattern but that would be the most labor intensive. You could use checkered tissue on the hump area since that part is covered by itself so you are not really putting checkered tissue on top of the green tissue. The problem with that is the plastic cowl would be really hard to do with the checkered pattern. What I would do is cover the the engine hump white then the rest of the fuselage green. Then You could make the red checkers by cutting squares from either red tissue or red self adhesive decal sheet and manually put each square on.
