As an "old timey" balsa builder........

Postby Deadstick Dave » Thu Feb 10, 2011 11:45 am

I used waxed paper to protect plan sheets when on the building board. I was thinking something like Saran-wrp might be better.

What are your suggestions please?

I used wax paper for years Dave, still do. I have used CA and it stuck to the wax paper. I am going back to plain wood glue and wax paper, mainly because I have a whole new box of it. Some one suggested putting the saran beneath the plans. Might try that, or more wax paper. I bought a 4 foot Guillow building board so I kind of want to protect it.
By the way I sent you a PM yesterday or the day before.

Try Saran Wrap. Switched from waxed paper and never looked back.

Sorry Dave, I have no clue as to how to know that you answered it. Another forum that I belong to flags you when you have a PM, is there something like that on this forum?

Thanks, Tinkerman

By the way Kittyfritters was pretty definitive on the use of the saran wrap. Guess I'll try it on my next build.

I used saran wrap once it worked really well. As far as CA goes? It sticks to everything on the planet. I will use the wax paper as I have a one pound roll and it is the perfect width for my building board.

I have used it all, but parchment paper works the best if you can find it.
It will be in the same place as the wax paper is in the grocery store .

With Saran wrap, I tend to get little wrinkles here and there. They keep the balsa from laying flat. I never can seem to get them all out no matter how I try. I recently switched to parchment paper and prefer it.
