Guillow Beginner Kit

Postby CaliforniaDan » Mon Mar 22, 2010 3:02 pm

Hello All, can anyone recommend a good beginner kit for an 11 yr old boy. I know that there is the Junior Series Kits. I would prefer a built up model as he has done a stick model in the past. He really likes it when he can fly my models so I thought having him build his own and flying it will hook him even more on this hobby. Thanks.

Just my 2 cents but:

This is the plane my Dad and I built nearly 50 years ago and flew on the football field at Odessa Permian Hih School way out in West Texas.

You just can't do any better...

Ya'll have fun!

The kit Bill Parker recommended was actually my first build, and I was even younger at the time (although I had help from my dad)! Wow, it feels like a lifetime ago...

The 4000 series Fly Boy has a built up stick fuselege. It flys very well with the prop that comes with the kit.The only change i would make is to change the rubber to 1/8 inch. Some F.A.I tan works good. It is very easy to get over 30 second fights with this model, and thats what you really want. :)
