Rumpler, Halberstadt, Pfalz, Albatross Plans?

Postby dbcisco » Mon Nov 23, 2009 12:09 pm

I know these are old, discontinued and out of copyright but, does anyone know where I can get them? Paper or digital media is OK.
A bumblebee isn't supposed to fly but does.
My plane is supposed to fly but doesn't.
Balances out doesn't it : )

Careful! At the time these works were published, the copyright duration was 28 years with an AUTOMATIC renewal of 67 years. While these plans are old, and discontinued, Guillow's may enforce the copyright any time they wish. Share them, but don't sell.

"However, if renewal registration was not made within the statutory time
limits, these copyrights expired at the end of their first terms
and protection was lost permanently." (Circular 15T).

I needed to be renewed at end of first 28 year grant and both copyright dates must appear on all new published works. The Last does not occur and the first apparently didn't. No offense to my favorite company but they haven't a leg to stand on regarding this.

Thanks Bill. Just looking at the plans helps me with improvements for the GAR Albatross currently on the table. Following the GAR plans, the bottom wing doesn't seem to be attached to the fuselage. :?:

It's Bill G from Wattflyer DB

I was fortunate to have the Rumpler bipe given to me. I may get on it soon, and could be talked into scanning the plans.
I found a software package to get my flatbed scanner working, since HP won't support Vista. It puts $ sign holograms all over the place, since I won't pay for the full registered copy, but still useable.

Since nobody is selling these kits, I don't think there are issues sharing plans with friends. What irks me though, is people trying to make loot from them, presumably without rights. I also obtained the Guillows Storch at the same time, and it is an excellent Storch design, in that it has the proper window frame detail and looks scale, but is relatively easy to build when compared with other tedious model designs. I've flown the rc conversion a few times, and have thought about a 200% version. I should scan these plans also.

Just remembered DB, I have a Sterling Albatros plan in pdf format, which I could mail you. I can be PM'd at Wattflyer for it, with your email address, since I don't always get by here.

I to am looking for plans for an Albatros and would very much appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.
Preferably plans from some old kit since I have just recently returned to the hobby after 30 years absence, and I fear that building from plans of the real fullscale aeroplane would be a bit to much for me...

Links to plans of other WWI airplanes not so commonly available as models would also be welcome, like the above mentioned Rumpler, Halberstadt, Pfalz or perhaps some kind of WWI seaplane?
